⋆Island Dream Bowl⋆

Hello my beauties!

As promised, here is the recipe for that dreamy purple smoothie I had been sharing on my Instagram Stories. So many of you were interested in how I got my smoothie that dreamy colour!

The secret actually lies in the combination of pink dragonfruit (grown in abundance here in Bali, also available in frozen packages in Australia), green spirulina, plus BLUE spirulina (an extract from the green stuff!).

For the liquid I use Cocobella coconut water (or the water fresh from the coconut), and fresh coconut milk that I make myself from coconut flesh (picture above) and water, which is perhaps a great topic for my YouTube channel 'how to make non-dairy milks' ps. my YouTube channel hasn't launched yet, but please subscribe to it here so I have a little family on launch :)

The vegan protein powder in this recipe is optional. I add a vegan protein to my smoothies because this is what I have for breakfast every morning and it would be pretty low in protein without it. Plus I have this after a big workout at the gym so its important to replenish your body with some protein after to help with muscle recovery. My favourite bands are Nutra Organics and Bare Blends (both Australian brands).

Here is the recipe for the Island Dream Bowl!

[serves 1-2 people]

Ingredients:

2 frozen bananas

10 frozen/fresh blueberries

1/4 of a frozen dragonfruit (red)

2 tsp vegan protein powder

1/2 tsp spirulina

1/2 tsp blue spirulina (or substitute for extra green spirulina)

1/4 cup coconut milk

1/4 cup coconut water

Toppings:

1/2 cup fresh sliced fruits

(sliced banana, fresh red dragonfruit, papaya or. mango)

1 tbsp coconut flakes (fresh or dried)

1 tsp cacao nibs

2 tbsp raw buckwheat or maple roasted granola

How to make:

1. Slice up the fruits for the topping. I like to make fun shapes and letters with my fruit to style the bowl. I purchase my cutters on eBay (they're cookie cutters by the way).

2. Add all smoothie ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.

3. Pour smoothie into a bowl.

4. Top with fruits, nibs, coconut, and buckwheat OR granola (I've linked a recipe for my granola above) .

5. Dig in under the beautiful morning sunshine.

From day one I have always hand written my recipes and kept all of the notebooks

Decorate your bowl with different shapes and fruits. This is with my granola recipe.

I hope you enjoy this dreamy purple smoothie bowl this summer! or even if its winter where you are from, I hope that it gives you a little slice of island life just eating it!
